The costal region of the Zadar County is characterised by the beauty of the cities of Zadar, Biograd, Nin and Pag which have a capacity of 90 000 beds, of which about 12 000 are in hotels, 50 000 in apartments and private accommodations, 16 000 are in camps, with marinas offering 3000 sea-berths and 2000 land-berths.
Agriculture and Fishing
The most important agricultural area in the County is Ravni Kotari along with its coast. According to the agricultural census in 2003, of the total arable land 21.6% is taken up by plough-land and gardens, 16.3% by meadows, 42.2% by grazing land, 10.7% by orchards, and 8.5% by vineyards, while the remaining land (uncultivated land and forests), make up 42.7%.
Macroeconomic Trends
In 2003, the County’s total revenue was 8.8 billion HRK. This same year saw an increase in registered revenues of 19%, which classifies the economic growth of this County positive and successful. In general, the very foundations of economic growth in 2003 were very positive, so that it is important to consider the increased cost effectiveness and productivity, as well as the profit rate and coefficient of asset return.
Territory and Demographic Trends
The Zadar County occupies an area of 7854 square kilometres. Of this, the land area is 3642 square kilometres or 6.4% of the total territory of Croatia, the sea makes up 3632 square kilometres and the islands make up 580 square kilometres. The County’s largest city and regional centre is Zadar.
